SEND Local Offer is a successful outcome of collaboration between children, young people with SEND, their parents and partners across education, health, and social care.
As we celebrate its 1st anniversary today, here’s what the SEND Local Offer has to offer:

1. New Website Accessibility Assistive Toolbar
This powerful tool enhances digital inclusivity, featuring a Translation option that supports over 100 languages, including 65 text-to-speech voices.
2. Enhanced Preparing for Adulthood (PfA) Local Offer
Through extensive collaboration with a professional network, we have enriched this offer, highlighting Post-16 Education, Preparing for and Finding Employment, and the Transition to Adult Health and Social Care Services.

3. New Calendar Function
We’ve introduced a calendar feature in the What’s On section, along with new page content on most webpages to improve overall navigation.
4. New Prozone
A professional zone was added on Homepage and Information, Advice and Support to provide quick information for multi-agency professionals.

A new scheme by Barking and Dagenham Council is helping people with learning disabilities, autism and long-term health conditions into work.Â
The first ever ‘Reverse Jobs Fair’, where jobseekers were able to showcase their skills and experience to potential employers, was held recently at the Barking Learning Centre and Community Hub.Â

Transition to Adulthood
On 26 November 2024, Adult Social Care Team held an event for parents and carers of young people aged 14 to 18 who are transitioning from Children Services to Adulthood to discuss the current pathways in terms of eligibility for statutory services and options for those who’s care and support fall below the statutory threshold. Assessing Your Care Needs – An assessment is a conversation about your needs, how these affect your wellbeing and what you want to be able to do in your daily life. The assessment is to decide whether you need support from social care, and what other support might be helpful.
The Care Act 2014 – introduced changes to adult social care which could affect the way care is provided to you.
