MIND Young People Ready for Adulthood (ages 17-25, November Group Meeting)

A 6-week in-person programme supporting young people 17-25 in Barking & Dagenham who are struggling with their mental health.  The sessions are engaging and interactive, providing tips and techniques to help manage common challenges.  A safe and non-judgemental space for young people to connect and have their voices heard.

Dates & Time: Mondays, late afternoon, start date: 10th November

Venue: Future Youth Zone – An annual membership will be required, we will cover the costs of this as long as client attends the programme.

Session 1

Introductory session: Creating a safe and comfortable environment for the young people to get to know each other, explore mental health and challenges and look at boundaries.

Session 2

Anxiety & coping techniques: Looking into the adolescent brain, why we become anxious & coping techniques. How to build our resilience through goal setting, self compassion and recognising our strengths.

Session 3

Wellbeing: Focusing on things we can do to improve our wellbeing, how our physical health & other factors can impact our mental health.  

Session 4

Communication: Looking at different types of communication, the challenges we may have with voicing our thoughts and feelings.  We look at communicating our needs to allow us to form stronger, healthier connections.

Session 5

What’s next: Reflecting on what has been learnt and developed. What is next, this could be seeking further support, getting back into education, volunteering or applying for a job.

Session 6

Celebration activity: We have a celebratory session, after completing the programme!
