Since September Just Say Parent Carer Open Forum meetings covered “In Case of Emergency” plans, the Local Offer, Transport and Mental Health. They have uploaded the presentations on their website.

National Autistic Society - Tips for Christmas
The Christmas period can be a very exciting but often stressful time of the year for many autistic people. It can be a time with lots of change, social interaction and expectations. We have put together a brief list of resources that may prove helpful in making this festive period as special and stress free as possible for autistic people.
There’ll be plenty for all of the family to enjoy from live music, a performance from the Dick Whittington Panto and lots of family entertainment. You can also join in some Christmas carols or get creative in our festive workshops.

Portage Play and Learn Sessions
Portage Play and Learn sessions which have started running at Marksgate Community Hub and Thames Community Hub this term. The criterion for attending – have a child aged 0 – 5 years who has complex needs (significant and long-lasting delays in 2 or more areas of development). International Day of Disabled People (IDDP) was proclaimed in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. It is celebrated worldwide every year and has been celebrated in Barking and Dagenham for over 10 years.
For those who have kids returning to school after half-term, you might be interested to know that the Art After School programme continues into the Winter term. The course is led by artist Tyreis Holder and focuses on creating wearable art pieces using recycled materials. Plus, even more after-school activities are coming up at A House for Artists.

The LBBD Barking Riverside Innovation in Construction (BRIC) training centre is the borough’s first onsite construction training centre, offering construction qualifications and training, plus brand new test centre facilities.
Barking and Dagenham Warm Spaces
Together with our local partners we’ve created a network of warm spaces across the borough for you, including in some of our Community Hubs.
They’re places you can go to meet up with other people and have a cup of tea to stay warm, so you don’t have to put the heating on at home. If you’re struggling to heat your home this winter, we’ll give you a warm welcome.
Local Offer website and the Speak Up Young People Forum
On 19th October 2023, SEND Team and Customer Experience Team joined 1st Young People Get-Together event at The Vibe. Speak Up Young People Forum is now helping the usability testing and will provide feedback about the functionality, navigation, accessibility, layout and design of the new SEND Local Offer website. Speak Up Forum will also finalise the design of new website logo and Young People (16-25) subpage by 5th December 2023, the official Local Offer launch day.
