Next steps after year 11
Generally, at the end of year 11, you have the option to take one of the following routes:
Sixth Form:
AS/A Levels, BTEC Extended
College:
BTEC and Vocational Courses, T Levels
Employer Work Based:
Traineeship, Apprenticeship
While you are at school or college you will be asked to think what you want to do in the future.
You could be asked things like:
- whether you want to stay in school or college, or leave to do something else
- whether you want to go to university
Barking and Dagenham College
Your local college, Barking and Dagenham College, have a (SEND) Department called HORIZONS.
The HORIZONS SEND DEPT has an Information Coffee Morning for students with an Education, Health and Care Plan.
If you are transitioning to Barking and Dagenham College, you will need to apply to the college yourself and then the college will contact the Local Authority regarding your EHC plan, to ensure you get the support you need.
